OUR MISSION
The first year will be primarily spent learning the difficult language of Malagasy. This will involve 6-8 hours each day being taught and having opportunities for practice.
Since our trip in 2004 we feel we could use our gifts in helping out the youth workers in the church. Most of the church youth groups function as a choir with very little Bible teaching. The Malagasy people have beautiful voices (unlike Pete) and are very traditional in their beliefs and culture. Although the church in Madagascar has had the Bible in their own language since 1836, many of them have little understanding of its message.
We have had some experience with youth ministry and one of our passions has been to encourage youth to read their Bibles and pray about what they read daily. We see the opportunity of discipling the choir leaders as a strategy to reaching the youth of Madagascar about the love of Jesus Christ. We are looking forward to working alongside other missionaries from England and South Africa who are working in churches to spread the gospel amongst adults and children.
Pete is also open to where God wants to use his environmental skills to bring sustainable development change to the underprivileged of Madagascar, while Kara is ready to use her nutrition and teaching skills if called upon. There are many possibilities and we look forward to what God has planned for us.
